Shortstown Reunion

Welcome to Shortstown’s newest community group, Shortstown Traders. This fledgling group is the brainchild of resident Caroline Williams and is already making waves in our community. Caroline has created a website www.shortstowntraders.co.uk where any local tradesperson can advertise their company for £1 per month. The money collected each month by Caroline goes towards local projects.

Ians bench

Their first project near to completion is a bench commemorating Shortstown’s centenary incorporating artwork of the sheds and the R101 airship which will be situated on the village playing fields

The bench is being built by local craftsman Ian Mould no stranger to this type of work. Three years ago Ian raised money for and designed a stone memorial to the Bedfordshire Regiment which now stands in the Tyn Cot British Cemetery in Belgium.

Working with Eastcotts Parish Council the traders hope to have the bench in situ in May. Watch this space to see what they do next……..
